In developmentThe first figure Focal Comics has ever made, and the first of a line built to bring these characters off the page and onto a shelf. Fifty will exist. Every one is painted by hand, which means every one is slightly its own thing — that is the point of painting them by hand rather than spraying them by machine.
Patina goes first because she is the one holding a dead world’s last power around her wrists, and because the Verdigrium is worth painting properly.
It comes with a certificate
Every figure ships with a certificate of ownership and authenticity, numbered against the edition — 1 of 50, and yours specifically. Hand signed by F.C. Marrow, Focal Comics founder, himself.
The certificate states what the purchase actually did: that you helped an artist get paid, helped get their work seen, and put a real human hand where a generated image would otherwise have gone. That is not a sentiment printed on a card. It is the accounting — your money getting put to work to get artists work.
Where the money goes
Focal is not-for-profit by choice, and our figures are run the same way. Every penny beyond production cost (including paying the printer and painter) goes to paying Focal artists and writers — the same fund that replaces AI placeholder art with commissioned work, credited in public on Artists Replacing AI.
So the edition being small is not a scarcity trick. Fifty hand-painted pieces is what one pair of hands can actually finish properly, and fifty is enough to pay somebody real for work you will be able to point at.
